Personal Update (July 2019)

A quick personal update for my followers

I was updating regularly up until two weeks ago and I plan to get back on the ball soon. On Wednesday, June 26th I had a total hysterectomy, which I had done because of the uterine fibroids I had developed. That surgery went well. Since it was done laparoscopically, I was able to go home the same day.

The first few days after the hysterectomy I felt fine, but I followed my gynecologist’s advice as closely as possible because I didn’t want to cause any complications to develop. However, by Sunday, June 30th, I wasn’t feeling very well. I had been constipated and it was getting painful. That night I took some more medication to help with that and I couldn’t shake the chills I’d developed.

The next morning, I woke with a low-grade fever. In my discharge paperwork it stated that if I had a fever of 100.5F or higher twice, that I should seek medical attention. I immediately took some Acetaminophen (Tylenol) to help bring the fever down, however I still had quite a bit of abdominal pain from the constipation. The medicine I had been taking for that hadn’t worked, despite taking three doses daily for the past several days.

When my fever came back around 5pm that evening, I realized I probably needed to go back to the hospital. I called the Ask-a-Nurse hotline first and they confirmed that it would be best to check myself into the Emergency Room and get checked out. My roommate came with me and the hospital admitted me immediately.

After a round of blood and urine tests and a CT scan, a doctor came in to talk to me with surprising results. I had developed appendicitis and they were going to have to do an emergency appendectomy. So, five days after my hysterectomy, I was wheeled back into the operating room for yet another surgery.

I’m now on the mend and hope to get back to writing and posting articles regularly again. That being said, if you are a follower of mine, tell me in the comments what kind of content you prefer me to write:
